Traders Hotel Kuala Lumpur: Hotel Review
/If there’s one hotel view in Kuala Lumpur that feels instantly iconic, it’s probably the view from Traders Hotel.
Sitting right across from the Petronas Twin Towers, Traders Hotel Kuala Lumpur has one of the best locations in the city if you want that classic KL skyline moment. You’re not just near the towers - you’re looking straight at them from your room, the pool, the gym, and SkyBar.
We stayed in a Twin Towers View Suite, and honestly, waking up to the Petronas Twin Towers right outside the window was such a pinch-me moment. KL is already a fun city to visit, but having that view as the backdrop to the whole stay made it feel extra special.
What I liked about Traders is that it doesn’t feel overly fussy. It has the comfort and service you’d expect from the Shangri-La group, but with a more relaxed city-hotel feel. The location is excellent, the views are incredible, and there are several dining options that make it easy to enjoy the hotel without needing to leave every night.
Location & Getting There
Traders Hotel Kuala Lumpur is located in KLCC, directly opposite the Petronas Twin Towers and Suria KLCC.
If it’s your first time in Kuala Lumpur, this is such an easy area to base yourself. You’re close to KLCC Park, the towers, Aquaria KLCC, Suria KLCC, and the Kuala Lumpur Convention Centre. Bukit Bintang is also not far away, so you can still get to the city’s bigger shopping and dining areas pretty easily.
One thing we really appreciated was the complimentary buggy service to Suria KLCC. It sounds like a small thing, but in KL heat, even a short walk can feel like a commitment. Being able to hop across to the mall without melting was honestly very welcome.
The location also makes the hotel great for a short Kuala Lumpur stay because you don’t have to over-plan. You can do a walk through KLCC Park, visit the towers, go shopping, come back for a swim, and then head to SkyBar at night - all without spending half your day in traffic.
Our Room: Twin Towers View Suite
The Twin Towers View Suite was easily the highlight of our stay.
The suite has an unobstructed view of the Petronas Twin Towers, and the view is honestly ridiculous in the best way. During the day, you get the towers rising above the park and city skyline. At night, they light up and feel even more dramatic.
We spent so much time just sitting by the window because the view really does pull you in. It’s not one of those hotel views you glance at once and forget about. It becomes part of the stay.
The suite itself felt spacious and comfortable, with a separate sitting room, a daybed by the window, a proper writing desk, and a big bathroom with both a bathtub and separate shower. The room is 48 sqm, so it gives you enough space to actually settle in rather than just sleep and leave. It also had some useful upgraded touches, including a 55-inch smart TV with Netflix and YouTube, a Nespresso machine, USB-C and USB-A charging ports, motion-sensor lighting, and sleek flooring. I liked that the room felt practical as well as scenic.
The suite also comes with Traders Club access, which adds breakfast, all-day snacks, afternoon tea, evening cocktails, beverages throughout the day, and a few extra perks. For a city stay, I always find club access makes things feel more relaxed because you have somewhere quiet to pause between outings.
Facilities
The facilities at Traders Hotel lean into what the hotel does best: views.
The indoor pool sits up on Level 33, right by SkyBar, and has huge windows looking straight out to the Petronas Twin Towers. It’s not your usual resort-style pool, but it’s definitely memorable because of the location.
We came up during the day and again in the evening, and the atmosphere changes completely. During the day, it’s a nice place to swim with skyline views. At night, the towers light up and suddenly the whole space feels more dramatic.
The gym was another highlight because it also has fantastic city views. Running on the treadmill while looking out across KL’s skyscrapers is definitely more motivating than staring at a blank wall.
There’s also theSPA and a health club, but for us, the main facilities story was really the pool and gym views. Traders Hotel does a good job of making the city itself feel like part of the experience.
Dining
Dining was a big part of our stay, with meals at Gobo Chit Chat, Bara On Six and SkyBar.
Gobo Chit Chat
Gobo Chit Chat is the hotel’s all-day dining restaurant on Level 5, serving breakfast and a mix of local and international dishes. Breakfast runs daily from 6:30am to 10:30am, and the restaurant continues through the day for lunch and dinner.
We had breakfast here during the stay, and it was a solid start to the day before heading out around KLCC. There was a good mix of options, but I especially liked that you could lean into more local flavours rather than only sticking to the usual hotel breakfast items.
We also had lunch at Gobo Chit Chat, which gave us a chance to try more Malaysian flavours in a relaxed setting. The restaurant has an open-kitchen concept and a Rasa Malaysia menu that focuses on local dishes and street-food inspired flavours, which felt like a nice fit for a Kuala Lumpur stay.
The space is casual, bright and easy, so it works well if you want something comfortable inside the hotel without making a whole occasion of it.
Bara On Six
Bara On Six was probably the more polished dining moment of the stay.
Located on Level 6, it’s a contemporary steakhouse and oyster bar with a slightly moodier feel. The restaurant focuses on classic steakhouse favourites with a modern twist, along with cocktails and a few Malaysian influences woven through the menu.
We had dinner here and really enjoyed the atmosphere. It felt grown-up without being too serious, and the views gave it that extra KLCC sparkle.
The food was comforting and generous, with dishes that worked well for a relaxed but elevated dinner. It’s the kind of place that suits a proper night in at the hotel, especially if you want good food without needing to venture out after a long day in the city.
SkyBar
SkyBar is probably the venue most people know Traders Hotel for, and it’s easy to see why.
Set on Level 33, SkyBar has those famous direct views of the Petronas Twin Towers. During the day it feels more like a poolside lounge, but at night, it becomes a proper KL rooftop experience.
We had dinner and drinks here with the towers glowing right behind us, and it was honestly such a fun night. There’s something about eating pizza, sharing bites, having a cocktail, and looking straight out at one of the world’s most recognisable skylines that just works.
The menu has light bites and drinks, and the space has been refreshed with a more elevated nightlife feel, signature cocktails and live music. It’s also one of those places where the view really does carry the experience, in the best way. If you’re staying at Traders, I’d definitely make time for SkyBar at night. Even if you’re not staying here, it’s one of those Kuala Lumpur hotel bars that makes sense to visit at least once.
Staff & Service
Service throughout the stay was warm, helpful and easy.
The team were friendly without being overly formal, which suited the hotel’s style. Traders has that polished Shangri-La hospitality, but it still feels approachable and relaxed.
From check-in to dining and the club lounge, everything was smooth. We also found the staff helpful when moving between the different hotel spaces, especially with the dining plans and getting around KLCC.
Final Verdict
Traders Hotel Kuala Lumpur is all about location and views — and it does both really well.
The Twin Towers View Suite was a huge highlight, especially with that direct view of the Petronas Twin Towers from the room. The pool, gym and SkyBar all build on that same wow factor, so the city skyline feels like the main character throughout the stay.
The hotel also works really well if you want a convenient KLCC base. You’re close to Suria KLCC, the park, the convention centre, and the Petronas Twin Towers, with a complimentary buggy service that makes getting across to the mall even easier.
Dining added a lot to the stay too. Gobo Chit Chat was easy and local-leaning, Bara On Six gave us a more polished dinner, and SkyBar delivered the big KL night-out moment with those iconic tower views.
