PARKROYAL COLLECTION Kuala Lumpur: Hotel Review
/PARKROYAL COLLECTION Kuala Lumpur: Hotel Review
Kuala Lumpur is one of those cities where you really feel the mix of everything - shopping malls, street food, skyscrapers, heritage pockets, heat, greenery, and that constant big-city buzz.
PARKROYAL COLLECTION Kuala Lumpur sits right in the middle of it all, but what makes it stand out is how leafy and calm it feels once you’re inside.
The hotel has a strong garden-in-the-city concept, with greenery woven through the property, a lush pool area, an Urban Farm, and a focus on sustainability that actually feels visible rather than just something written on a sign somewhere.
We stayed in a COLLECTION Club Premier Room, and between the club benefits, the pool, the spa, afternoon tea, and dinner at Thyme, it ended up being such an easy Kuala Lumpur stay.
Location & Getting There
PARKROYAL COLLECTION Kuala Lumpur is located in Bukit Bintang, one of the best areas to stay if you want to be close to shopping, food, and city life.
You’re near Pavilion Kuala Lumpur, Lot 10, Jalan Alor, and plenty of restaurants, cafes, and malls, so it’s a really practical base if you’re visiting KL for a short trip.
What we liked most was that the hotel felt central without feeling too intense. Step outside and you’re right in the thick of the city, but come back in and suddenly everything feels a bit softer - more greenery, more space, more calm.
That’s probably what PARKROYAL COLLECTION does best here. It gives you the convenience of Bukit Bintang, but with a much more relaxed, garden-like atmosphere.
Our Room: COLLECTION Club Premier Room
Our room was the COLLECTION Club Premier Room, and it felt modern, spacious, and really comfortable.
The design had a warm, contemporary feel, with darker tones, timber details, and some bold botanical artwork that gave the room more personality. I liked that it didn’t feel overly plain or generic - it still had a strong sense of place and style.
The room had a nice seating area, a big bed, and enough space to properly settle in. It also felt calm, which is always appreciated in a city like Kuala Lumpur where the days can get busy pretty quickly.
One of the best parts was having COLLECTION Club access. Breakfast was included, and the evening cocktails were a lovely little bonus after being out in the city during the day.
I’m always a fan of club lounge access when it actually adds to the stay, and here it really did. It made the whole experience feel more relaxed and gave us another beautiful space to enjoy within the hotel.
Facilities
The pool area was easily one of our favourite parts of the hotel.
It feels like a tropical escape above the city, with cabanas, greenery, skyline views, and even the KL Tower peeking through in the background. It’s such a good contrast to the busy streets outside.
We spent time here during the day, and it was honestly one of those rare city hotel pools where you actually want to linger for a while. There’s enough greenery around it to make it feel like a proper escape, not just a pool squeezed onto a rooftop.
The hotel also has a 24-hour gym, which was bright, spacious, and well-equipped. I loved that it looked out towards the pool and greenery rather than feeling tucked away somewhere dark.
Another feature that really stood out was the Urban Farm. It’s not every day you see a hotel in the middle of Kuala Lumpur growing herbs, vegetables, and edible plants on-site.
The whole sustainability focus felt nicely integrated throughout the property. There’s lots of greenery, eco-conscious details, filtered water, and that overall sense that the hotel is trying to make sustainability part of the guest experience rather than something separate from it.
Wellness
We also had a Royal Heritage Massage at St. Gregory Spa, which was such a good way to slow down.
After a few busy days of travel, this was exactly what we needed. The treatment felt relaxing, grounding, and really restorative without being too intense.
St. Gregory Spa has that calm hotel-spa atmosphere where you instantly feel like lowering your voice as soon as you walk in. It was a nice contrast to the energy of Bukit Bintang outside, and honestly, it made the stay feel much more complete.
Between the spa, pool, gym, and all the greenery, PARKROYAL COLLECTION Kuala Lumpur does a really good job of making wellness feel natural rather than forced.
Dining
Dining was another big part of our stay, especially with Thyme and The Botanist Lounge & Bar.
Thyme
Thyme is the hotel’s main all-day dining restaurant, and it focuses on local and international dishes with a sustainable approach.
We had the sustainable set menu at Thyme, which leaned into Malay flavours, and this was such a nice way to experience the hotel’s food philosophy. The dishes felt colourful, comforting, and nicely tied to local ingredients.
I especially loved the blue rice, the rich sauces, and the way the dishes still felt familiar while being presented in a more polished hotel setting.
The restaurant itself is bright and full of greenery, with these gorgeous globe lights and warm orange accents. It feels stylish but still relaxed, which made it a nice spot for both breakfast and a proper sit-down meal.
Breakfast was also easy and enjoyable, with plenty of options before heading out to explore KL.
The Botanist Lounge & Bar
The Botanist Lounge & Bar was where we had afternoon tea, and this was such a fun little experience.
The afternoon tea set came presented in a suitcase-style display, which made it feel playful and super photogenic. There were sweet and savoury bites, drinks, and plenty of little details that made it feel more special than a standard afternoon tea.
The space itself has a relaxed lounge feel, with darker interiors, soft seating, and a bit of old-school glamour. It’s a great spot to pause during the day, especially if you want to escape the heat for a while.
The hotel also has Skye Chill by the pool, serving light bites and drinks, which makes sense if you’re spending more time lounging outside.
Staff & Service
The service throughout the stay was warm and easy. Everyone we interacted with was friendly and helpful, and the overall experience felt smooth from arrival to check-out.
I also appreciated that the hotel didn’t feel overly formal. It still felt polished, but in a way that was comfortable and approachable, which suits the whole garden-in-the-city concept really well.
Final Verdict
PARKROYAL COLLECTION Kuala Lumpur is a great choice if you want a stylish city hotel with a softer, greener feel.
The Bukit Bintang location is super convenient, the COLLECTION Club Premier Room was comfortable and nicely designed, and the pool area really made the hotel feel like more than just a place to sleep.
What stood out most was how well the hotel balances city energy with a sense of calm. You’re right near some of KL’s busiest shopping and dining areas, but inside the hotel there’s greenery, a spa, a lovely pool, an Urban Farm, and plenty of spaces to slow down.
The sustainability focus also gives the property more personality. It’s not just another polished city hotel - it feels like there’s a stronger idea behind it.
